Aloha,
I greatly appreciate the Hawaii Feline Forum. However, I have had ongoing problems navigating it. Since almost everyone seems to be on Facebook every day...... I am wondering if a Facebook page devoted to feral cat issues in Hawaii might be more user friendly?
I have been having ongoing problems (since August 2014) with City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation staff harasing me and trying to eliminate feral cats at Kualoa Regional Park (Chinaman's Hat). The Mayor's office stopped the employee from harasing me and told me..... no cats would be harmed. But in November a number of cats went missing, 1 body was found and another cat was injured.... so it appears the Mayor and Department of Parks and Recreation either don't follow through on their promises or have no control over their employees.
When parks or organizations try to implement policies/ordinances/rules (such as feeding bans) we need act together as a group to help protect our feral cats and the people that care for them. Legislators must get a sense that MANY people in the community want humane policies for cats. So please... take a moment to make your voice heard!
I created a Facebook Page to chronicle my problems and as a general forum for all community cat care givers to discuss issues relevant to feral cats in Hawaii. Please feel free to join the Feral Cats in Hawaii Facebook page - www.facebook.com/groups/feralcatsinhawaii/ - and please ask others to join as well. I have posted Advocacy information, sample letters to send to legislators and contact information for particular legislators. I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thank you for all you do for Hawaii's feral cats. Kim Murphy
