Hello feline friends!
This is my first post and I'm happy to be a part of the cat lovers' community here on O'ahu. I was not a cat person until very recently. It was less than three years ago that I found a stray orange tabby, estimated to be less than a year old, wandering around my workplace. He seemed cautious yet curious enough to people watch. I'm not sure what compelled me to take notice but, call it fate, I was drawn to him and began feeding on a regular basis in the morning and evening for about a month. We developed a relationship, although, at this point, he still would not let me pet him. I had taken pictures of him and texted them to my girlfriend and she was immediately interested. She started calling him Milo, inspired by the movie cat of the same name. After getting to know him and realizing that this little guy deserved a permanent, loving home, I talked it over with my girlfriend about taking him in. We were already caring for three dogs and a cat but it made sense to us to bring him home. I caught him shortly after New Year's of 2012 and had him neutered/checked out the very same day. Mahalo to King St. Pet Hospital for accomodating us! Milo has become the most loveable boy and my inspiration to try and help others in our feline community. We've since rescued and/or adopted four cats, bringing our clan total to eight, including two dogs. I believe this forum (thank you Keoni and Jacque!) can become a powerful tool if we allow and make consistent use of it. Aloha to all and let's make a difference in reducing the number of community cats in our islands!
